My Writing Progress Made in Term 2.

During term two, we were learning and focusing on narrative writing. I didn't like writing at all until I came to Tautoro School and used the chromebooks. I found that using chromebooks made writing much easier and the Apps were helpful when proof-reading my work.

It was much easier on the chromebooks because my work is tidier than using a pen and paper. If I have any mistakes I will just use the Read & Write app to read it for me and see if I have made any mistakes, even though it does not speak Maori properly.

I think that I have improved a little bit in my writing because I did not learn that much writing at my old school because it wasn't that important as I was told by my old teachers that sports was more important. I was surprised when I heard that.

At Tautoro School, we work on chromebooks and we write constantly all day. Actually every day we write for writing, reading, inquiry topic and even when we are creating movies.

Miss Simeon told me to be a detective which meant get up and grab my chromebook to work but I had a few bad habits where I still sat there at my table quietly, not listening like I am lost and hoping that my teacher  would do my work for me.

Miss Simeon helped me to click back into my work by showing me where to go and showed me some writing examples. I noticed that I can write faster and can read the words better and write for longer, using paragraphs. I have noticed that I don't get frustrated when I spell a word wrong. I think out of all the weeks I have been here I have written about 300 to 700 words a day.

I also think my learning has improved a lot, compared to my old school, I really thought that writing was really hard but until Miss Simeon gave me a few ideas which made it easier, I now notice that writing is actually fun. What has helped me the most is how to plan my writing. The planning helped me because I can now structure my story and this has helped my audience to understand my work a lot better.

When I leave this school I will carry my writing experience and knowledge with me to High School.
